Truck vs. Auto Accidents:
Sixty-four year old female driving a passenger automobile on an Illinois interstate, was struck from behind at a high rate of speed by a semi-truck tractor, causing the passenger vehicle to spin 180 degrees before being pushed off the highway down an embankment. Injuries to the female included multiple fractures of the ribs, thoracic and lumbar spine, and left humerus; disc bulges; extensive soft tissue damage; ruptured breast implant; lacerations to the head and face; and a laceration to the left scapula. No surgeries were required. The driver of the truck and the trucking company settled the case for $375,000.00.
Forty-six year old male driving a 2010 Harley Davidson Motorcycle on a public roadway was struck by a passenger vehicle making a left-hand turn into a convenience store parking lot. The force of the collision caused the driver of the motorcycle to be thrown from the bike onto the hard pavement. Injuries to the male included aches and pains to the entire body, with specific injury to the right knee and left ankle, requiring surgery. The insurance company for the driver of the automobile settled the case for policy limits of $100,000.00.

Fifty-one year old male driver of a passenger automobile, while stopped at a traffic light, was rear ended at a moderate rate of speed by another passenger vehicle. The male driver of the stopped vehicle suffered injuries to his back, shoulders, and neck. The insurance company for the at-fault drive settled the case for policy limits of $25,000.00.
Twenty-seven year old female driver was rear ended at a traffic light by another passenger vehicle. Injuries were limited to soft tissue and moderate muscle strain in the neck and back region. The female driver was pregnant at the time of the accident, but the pregnancy was not affected. The insurance company for the at-fault driver settled the claim for $6,000.00.
Fifty-one year old male driver and his twenty-five year old male front seat passenger were injured when the vehicle they were driving in was struck by an oncoming motorist who disregarded a red traffic light at a busy intersection. Injuries to both the driver and passenger included soft tissue and muscle strain, with no broken bones – although the passenger did suffer minor scarring from a laceration caused from the collision. The insurance company for the at-fault driver settled the claims of both the driver and the passenger, in the combined amount of $18,054.81.
Husband, a Chicago firefighter, was killed in the line of duty, leaving widow and five children. We assisted the widow in placing her home and other assets, including life insurance and pension proceeds, into trust, for the benefit of herself, her children and grandchildren – one of whom had special needs issues.
Single male, age 76, who never married and has no children, acquired an estate of nearly $2 million, which he wishes to leave to his adult niece and nephew. We assisted this Client in working to avoid the probate process by transferring his assets into trust for the benefit of himself during his life and then to his niece and nephew.
Married couple, now retired in their mid-sixties, acquired an estate valued at approximately $1 million. Both remain in good health, wishing to spend part of their time in the Chicago area and the rest of the year traveling the Country in their recreational vehicle. We assisted this couple by transferring their assets into a family trust, for the benefit of themselves, their four adult children and their grandchildren. We also provided them durable powers of attorney for both financial matters and health decisions – giving them peace of mind as they enjoy the benefits of a well-spent life.

Felony Drug and Firearm Matters:
Single male, in his late fifties, was charged with three felony and three misdemeanor counts which included: Unlawful Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Sell; Single male, in his late fifties, was charged with three felony and three misdemeanor counts which included: Unlawful Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Sell; Unlawful Possession of Cannabis; Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance; Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; Possession of a Firearm without a FOID card; and Possession of Firearm Ammunition without a FOID card. We successfully reached a Negotiated Agreement with the State that required our Client to plead guilty to only two of the six counts, in exchange for twenty-four months of probation; a fine of $1,000; fifty hours of public service; drug evaluation and treatment classes; and dismissal of all remaining counts – serving no jail time.
DUI & Traffic and Misdemeanor Offenses:
Male, a military veteran, in his early twenties, was arrested by the Harwood Heights Police Department and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and traveling more than 30 MPH over the posted speed limit. He registered a Blood Alcohol Content of .18, and failed all field sobriety tests. We negotiated a plea agreement on his behalf that included him agreeing to plead guilty to one of the counts in exchange for one year supervision; fine; Community Service; and a requirement to attend a live seminar. He served no jail time and all remaining tickets were dismissed
Thirty-nine year old mother of two, arrested by the Spring Grove Police Department, and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol; Driving with a Suspended License; No Insurance; and having a Defective Windshield. She registered a Blood Alcohol Content of .135, and failed all field sobriety tests. We negotiated a plea agreement on her behalf that included her agreeing to plead guilty to two of the counts in exchange for one year supervision; fine; a mandatory donation to local drug charity; and drug and alcohol treatment. She served no jail time and all remaining tickets were dismissed.
We brought suit in the Law Division of Cook County, Illinois, on behalf of our client, an interstate transportation company headquartered in Elmhurst, Illinois, against Defendant Corporation, seeking contract damages in excess of $250,000.00. At issue was Defendant's breach of a back-solicitation clause as part of the terms of a Contract Carrier Agreement between the parties.
We successfully defended our Client, a nation-wide manufacturer and distributor of oil products headquartered in Huntley, Illinois, from claims of deceptive practices in trade made by a competing Arizona corporation. We negotiated settlement of all issues on behalf of our Client, and no money damages were paid by our Clients as a condition of settlement.
